Jazzforum: Jazz and Its South Carolina Roots - A Jazz History and Education Model of the Charleston Jazz Initiative

The Charleston Jazz Initiative (CJI) research project, which is documenting the history of jazz in Charleston, South Carolina, is highlighted, focusing on the role of the Jenkins Orphanage and the Avery Normal Institute. CJI is exploring the social history of Charleston's jazz legacy as well as its musical history.
