Reach Out and Touch Someone! The Charlotte Jazz Society's Jazz Outreach

Describes the origins of the Charlotte Jazz Society's community outreach program in which the author has teamed
with fellow local jazz musicians to bring jazz to the local public schools of the combined Charlotte-Mecklenburg
school system. Explains how a quintet format is used and the programming developed for presentations to junior
and high school students in the area. Comments on funding for the program and includes some feedback from
"post-concert evaluation forms."
