Tilburg has many jazz pioneers who have given the city a prominent position in the Netherlands. Tilburg's 100-year-old jazz history is dealt with in four periods: "Pioneers introduce jazz music" (1900-1925), "Advance of the dance orchestras" (1920-1950), "Jazz is dead" (1950- 970), "Old style and modern jazz '(1970-present), with ample attention paid to musicians, bands and events per period.
