Abstract

The Bad Plus embodies a jazz trend in the last decades in jazz: the incorporation of urban popular music in its repertoire. Similarly to traditional standard, some call this collection of mostly pop-rock songs new standard. We analyse The Bad Plus and their Nirvana cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
